Data methodology
Where our trade show data comes from, what verified and unverified mean, and exactly how the fit score is calculated.

Sources
Show data comes from organizers' official websites, exhibitor and visitor guides, and press releases. Venue data comes from the venues' own sites. Each show page links to the organizer's official site.
Guides and comparisons are written by our editorial team. See our editorial policy.
Verified and unverified
Verified means an editor has checked the show's dates and key facts against the organizer's official source, and the page shows the date of that check.
Unverified means the information is a best available record that has not yet been checked against the organizer, or the organizer has not confirmed it. Treat unverified dates as provisional and confirm them on the official site before booking travel or paying for anything.
How information is updated
Shows are reviewed on a rolling basis and whenever an organizer announces a change or a reader reports a correction. The last-checked date on each show page tells you how recent the check is. Past-edition figures keep the year they refer to.
Fit score
The fit score on each show page compares shows across five dimensions, each scored from 0 to 100. The overall score is the simple average of the dimensions that have data. If a dimension has no data it is shown as TBC and left out, and the page says "Based on n of 5 dimensions".
- Scale
- How large the show was at its last edition.
- Uses last-edition visitors on a logarithmic scale where 100,000 visitors scores 100. If visitors are missing, exhibitors are used instead (3,000 exhibitors scores 100), then floor area (100,000 sqm scores 100). Missing all three: TBC.
- International reach
- How much of the audience and exhibitor base comes from outside Japan.
- The overseas share of visitors and the overseas share of exhibitors at the last edition, each scaled so that 20% overseas scores 100. The score is the average of whichever shares are available. Missing both: TBC.
- Cost efficiency
- How the booth price compares with other shows in our database.
- The shell-scheme price per koma is ranked against every other published show that has one (space-only price is used if there is no shell-scheme price). The cheapest scores 100 and the most expensive scores 0. Needs at least three shows with a price: otherwise TBC.
- English friendliness
- How much English-language support the organizer provides.
- Full English support scores 100, partial 66, limited 33. Unknown: TBC.
- Lead time remaining
- How much time an overseas exhibitor has left to prepare.
- Days from today to the next application or early-bird deadline, or to the first day of the show if no deadline is listed. 180 days or more scores 100, scaling down linearly to 0 when the date has passed.
The score is a comparison of public figures. It does not say a show is good or bad for your business, and it cannot be influenced by payment.
Limits
Organizers sometimes change dates, venues or rules after we publish. Figures are as reported by organizers and are not independently audited. If you spot an error, tell us.
